In case you notice a large increase in the online traffic to your site and in case after you check the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from places around the world or from other servers, your site is most likely being attacked by an automatic bot. These programs go through random Internet sites trying to log in to their administration area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments underneath every article where this type of an option is available. However, this is something rather frequent in recent times, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you could block them, so the bots will be unable to access your website in any way. Of course, you are able to block IPs even if you allow only people from specific countries to access your site.

IP Blocking in Cloud Website Hosting

If you have a cloud website hosting account with our company and you wish to block one or a number of IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that's included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a very simple interface, you'll be able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete that is to log in to your Control Panel, to check out the IP Blocking section, to select a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You shall not need to do anything difficult if you would like to block an entire network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed within the same exact section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with simply a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, included with our Linux semi-dedicated packages, will allow you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very easily. It comes with an IP blocking tool in which you can add IP addresses with just several mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains you have within the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you only have to choose the one you need and then enter the IP address which should be blocked. If you would like to block an entire range, a C-class network for example, you simply need to enter the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you will not have to type them by hand. Because all the IPs that you include in this section shall be listed, you could easily unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the given IP.
